were due to be held at Southport Aquatic Centre on the Gold Coast between August 6-8.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions and border closures in place across multiple states and territories, SLSA will postpone the Australian Pool Rescue Championships until the end of October (29 – 31) at the same location on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Surf Life Saving Australia National Sport Manager Wayne Druery said that due to the current circumstances it is in the best interests of our members, volunteers and officials to reschedule the national championship to a later date.

“We have been closely monitoring the situation unfolding around the country and have made the decision to postpone the event until October,” Druery said.

“Surf Life Saving Australia, volunteers and officials have been working very hard to ensure that we are delivering a COVID-safe event that still incorporates all of the elements that we love about our Australian Pool Rescue Championships and has a minimal effect on other local, state and national surf sport events.”

Surf Life Saving Australia will also continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation in consideration of the 2021 IRB Championships and the 2021 Coolangatta Gold, which are scheduled to take place in September (9-12) and October (16-17) respectively.

At this stage there are no changes to these events, but should circumstances require any change or adjustment, it will be communicated accordingly.
