The NationalLeadership College is an annual leadership and development program recognisingyoung leaders in Surf Life Saving aged between 20 and 30 years.

The week-longintensive course provides an exciting opportunity for members within themovement to further develop their leadership skills and continue to positivelycontribute to the success of Surf Life Saving.

As well aslearning new skills and creating opportunities for personal growth, the programwill open new networks with other likeminded passionate members across thecountry, who are also committed to making a difference within the movement.

The NationalLeadership College is designed to challenge participants intellectually,socially, emotionally and physically. The skills gained are designed to betaken back to clubs and into other areas of the participant’s daily life, withthe aim of contributing to SLSA’s mission statement of saving lives, creatinggreat Australians and building better communities.

The NationalLeadership College will run from 31 January to 6 February 2021 at the SanctaSophia College in Camperdown, Sydney with a maximum of 30 positions availablefor the week-long course.

For the 2021program there will also be four multicultural and indigenous scholarshipsavailable for participants with the full cost of the course paid for by SLSA.

2020National Leadership College participant Sonita Leng-Cole from AlexandraHeadland SLSC said that the experience was indescribable.

“It’s sohard to explain the program, everyone goes to it and everyone comes back beinglike ‘you’re just going to love it and I can’t describe why but you’re going tolove it’ and you leave being like ‘I can’t describe why, but I loved it andyou’re going to love it too’,” said Sonita.

“I cannotrecommend it enough to anyone who is interested in bettering themselves, inbettering their leadership skills, in getting out of their comfort zone.”

“It is justsuch an exciting and incredible week and you leave feeling so fulfilled and soinspired and excited to just continue in Surf Life Saving.”

Applications to state and territorycentres are due by 2 November 2020 with the successful applicants notified bySLSA on 2 December 2020.
