Don dedicated 63 years to the movementsince joining the Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club in 1957.
Between 1960-1988 Don held a varietyof roles at Tallebudgera including Club Captain, Treasurer and President; whilealso heavily involved with the Point Danger Branch.
In 1991 he was appointed Director ofLifesaving at SLSQ and between 1995 to 2000 he acted as the National LifesavingDirector at SLSA.
He received LifeMembership for the Point Danger Branch in 1980; SLSQ Life Membership in 1979and SLSA Life Membership in 1993. In 2006 he was awarded an OAM for hisservices to surf lifesaving.
Later inlife, Don and wife Val, moved up to Hervey Bay where they were quickly embracedby the Hervey Bay Surf Life Saving Club.
Throughouthis time in Surf Life Saving, he continued to mentor officials, coaches andcompetitors.
Don will besadly missed in the Surf Life Saving community. Don is survived by his wifeVal, their two children and their many grandchildren.
