winning their eight consecutive title today in an 11-1 clean sweep.

As the test returned to local shores on the New South Wales South Coast, large swell saw the ASRL Open carnival and the Trans-Tasman test relocate to Long Beach, just outside of Bateman’s Bay for safety.

With huge swells hitting the original location at Mollymook Beach crews were tested with a challenging shore break at Long Beach, with the Australian’s using this to their advantage.

In a dominant display of surf boat prowess, the Aussies won 11 out of 12 races against the Kiwis and retained the Trans-Tasman Trophy for an eighth consecutive year.

Australian Open crews of BMD Northcliffe (women) and Bulli (men) proved they are a force to be reckoned with as the best teams in the nation, and put any hope of a New Zealand victory to a stop with a six to zero mastery against the Kiwis.

Australia’s power off the start line proved too much in both long and short course races with Aussie Captain Sara Western saying the team made this a point of emphasis in their race day strategy.

“We caught up as a team last night and spoke about some of the challenges of short course racing,” Western said.

“We really made an emphasis of our starts, so it’s nice to see the results come through.”

Australia’s U23 crews were also dominant over their rivals with a five to one victory in the Under 23 age group.

All Australian and New Zealand crews will be seeded into quarter finals for last day of the Team Navy ASRL Open tomorrow.
